چکیده
Abstract Hip fracture in older adults is associated with poor prognosis. We tested the hypothesis that a single standardized measure, pre-fracture mobility, can be used as an early indicator of patients at high health risk after hip fracture. Analysis prospectively collected data admitted between April-2009 and June-2019 NHS hospital, UK. Pre-fracture mobility status (freely mobile, mobilising outdoors one aid or two aids, limited to indoors), was predict length stay (LOS) mortality discharge destination. Among 3073 (2231 women, 842 men) from their own home (mean ± SD age = 82.7 9.3 yr), 159 died 2914 survived discharge: 1834 back home, 772 rehabilitation, 66 residential care, 141 nursing care 101 unknown destinations. Compared LOS 15.9 15.6 days who mobilised freely before (reference), those were able mobilise stayed 3.5 days, aids confined indoor week longer hospital. In-patient increased among aids: OR 2.1 (95%CI 1.3–3.3), indoors: (1.3–1.5). Finally, change residence on more likely (OR 1.8, 95%CI 1.2–2.6), indoors 1.9, 1.2–2.9). In conclusion, may useful for identifying adverse outcomes acute

Prognostic Factors Predicting Early Recovery of Pre-fracture Functional Mobility in Elderly Patients With Hip Fracture
OBJECTIVE To investigate the prognostic factors predicting the recovery of pre-fracture functional mobility, we evaluated this by the use of ambulatory assistive devices in short-term follow-up. METHODS Five hundred and fifty-three elderly patients who had undergone hip fracture operations from January 2006 to June 2013 were enrolled in this retrospective study. Clinical characteristics and p...
متن کاملProximal Femoral Geometry as Fracture Risk Factor in Female Patients with Osteoporotic Hip Fracture
BACKGROUND Proximal femoral geometry may be a risk factor of osteoporotic hip fractures. However, there existed great differences among studies depending on race, sex and age of subjects. The purpose of the present study is to analyze proximal femoral geometry and bone mineral density (BMD) in the osteoporotic hip fracture patients. Furthermore, we investigated proximal femoral geometric parame...
متن کاملPost-fracture management of patients with hip fracture: a perspective.
BACKGROUND Hip fracture creates a worldwide morbidity, mortality and economic burden. After surgery, many patients experience long-term disability or die as a consequence of the fracture. A fracture is a major risk factor for a subsequent fracture, which may occur within a short interval. METHODS A literature search on post-fracture management of patients with hip fracture was performed on th...
متن کاملPosterior Hip Fracture -Dislocation Associated with Ipsilateral Intertrochantric Fracture; a Rare Case Report
Hip dislocation occurs when the femur does not break and the force is transmitted towards the hip joint leading to a posterior dislocation of the femoral head with or without posterior acetabular fracture. We present the case of a 26 year old patient involved in motor vehicle accident. Clinical and imaging (radiography, CT) examination revealed an intertrochanteric fracture associated with ipsi...
متن کاملSubsequent Hip Fracture in Osteoporotic Hip Fracture Patients
PURPOSE A significant number of patients who have experienced previous surgical treatment for an osteoporotic hip fracture experience a subsequent hip fracture (SHF) on the opposite side. This study aims to analyze the risk factors and the correlation between osteoporosis and SHF on the opposite side in order to assess the usefulness of bisphosphonate treatment for the prevention of SHFs. MAT...
